The conversion of non-recyclable waste materials into useable heat, power, or fuel by a variety of processes such as combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, anaerobic digestion, and landfill gas recovery is known as energy recovery from waste. Waste to energy is a term used to describe this process. The word "energy recovery" is frequently used to refer to a small number of waste-to-energy conversion processes, while it actually refers to a wide range of technologies that generate heat, electricity, or fuel. Governments and enterprises now have another option for reducing waste streams: energy recovery. The residual garbage can be processed to release energy once recyclable materials have been removed. Municipal solid waste management is a huge worldwide challenge that the globe is grappling with. With the ever-increasing volume of MSW generated worldwide, it is becoming increasingly important to use MSW as a resource in a sustainable manner. The two primary challenges that undisposed garbage brings with it: health and the environment, necessitate the development of a comprehensive MSW management strategy in every country.
